Travis Kelce’s embarrassing Oscars party mistake with Taylor Swift Revealed
At an Oscars party earlier this year, American actor Billy Eichner recalled a humorous mistake with Travis Kelce.
Eichner recently said on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he witnessed the Kansas City Chiefs tight end with pop sensation girlfriend Taylor Swift at a Madonna-hosted after-party.
‘All of a sudden, I feel a very strong, like bro-y, pat on my back,’ Eichner explained. ‘It was a masculine man, Jimmy. I turn around. I’m 6’3, right? So I’m not used to looking up and actors are pretty short.
‘So I turn around, and I feel this pat on my back, and I turn around and it’s Travis Kelce,’ he added.
‘In a very loud, booming voice in a house full of the most famous people in the world, Travis Kelce looks at me and goes, ‘Jimmy on the motherf***ing Street! I love you, man,” he continued, noting his show entitled Billy on the Street.
“I feel a really strong, bro-y pat on my back all of a sudden,” Eichner said. “Jimmy, it was a manly man.” I turn around. I’m 6’3, correct? Actors tend to be really small, and I’m not used to looking up.
He said, “I turn around and feel this pat on my back. When I turn around, it’s Travis Kelce.”
Travis Kelce glances at me and exclaims, “Jimmy on the motherf***ing Street!” in a loud, booming voice amid a house full of the world’s most renowned people. He went on, mentioning his show Billy on the Street, “I love you, man.”
Every time they saw each other during the evening, Eichner observed that Kelce would reach out and bump his fist.
“I don’t normally use the fist bump to communicate, but I kept doing it,” Eichner joked, trying to avoid stereotyping homosexual guys.
The Lion King actor further hinted that Kelce might have confused their names after seeing Kimmel, who was also there at the celebration. But the host of Late Night had a different idea.
‘I don’t think he talked to me at all,’ Kimmel said. ‘No, I don’t think I did talk to him.’
‘I do want to say though, he has an open invitation to appear with me on ‘Jimmy on the Street,’ Eichner added, telling Kimmel ‘You can join us.’
‘That way we can really confuse him,’ Kimmel replied, warranting a laugh from the audience.
In order to make fun of Swift’s NFL lover, Eichner also made a joke about purposefully combining her name with another singer’s.
‘Yeah, and he was with Taylor, I didn’t get to say hi to her,’ Eichner explained. ‘She was talking to someone, but it would have been funny if I turned to her and said, ‘Oh my God, Sara Bareilles, I love you.’
