Travis Kelce made a couple of divisive fashion choices ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 22, and fans were more than happy to weigh in with their thoughts online.
When the Chiefs arrived in Atlanta, Ga., the day before the game, the star tight end impressed some with the all-black look he wore while disembarking from the plane. But others couldn’t help but question his shoes and decision to go without socks for his team’s arrival.
The next day, Kelce, 34, arrived at Mercedes-Benz Stadium wearing a loose-fit black suit, black tie and bright red shoes. Some fans applauded the look on X, formerly Twitter, when the Chiefs and several Kelce fan accounts shared photos and videos of the outfit on the social media platform.
Sharp,” one fan tweeted approvingly as another praised the “Killastyle,” a reference to Kelce’s “Killa Trav” nickname.
“I want those shoes!” one X user tweeted.
Another X user suggested the shoes were a subtle nod to Kelce’s girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift, writing, “he’s celebrating red (Taylor’s version) season with them shoes.”
Others were confused by the baggy suit and short pants, which revealed that he had decided to add socks to his game-day wardrobe.
Why are his pants so short?” one fan asked as another echoed the query, tweeting, “Where are the rest of his pants 😭.”

Several fans also drew comparisons between Kelce’s look and that of the suits that former Saturday Night Live cast members John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd wore while playing Jake and Elwood Blues in their 1980 film The Blues Brothers.
“He looks like a blues brother!” one fan said in a widely-echoed comment on X.
It’s giving sports coded Blue’s Brother’s,” an X user agreed as another suggested Kelce looked like a “Sloppy blues brother??”
“Is he Jake or Elwood? Lol,” one fan wondered.
“He’s the Unknown Elwood Brother,” another fan decided.
Kelce’s game-day fashion even inspired one social media user to pitch an idea for Saturday Night Live, should Kelce ever return. The NFL star has hosted the sketch comedy show once, in March 2023.
