BREAKING :Patrick Mahomes gives major update about his ankle injury as fans fear he could miss Chiefs’ next game

Patrick Mahomes has quelled fears that he could miss the Chiefs’ upcoming game against the Denver Broncos, despite admitting that his ankle is ‘a little bit sore’ after reaggravating an injury on Monday night.

A hush went around Arrowhead during Kansas City’s overtime win over the Bucs when superstar quarterback Mahomes had to be helped off the field in the second half.

Although he managed to finish the game, the ankle injury was a concern given it was the second straight game in which he has felt pain in the same area, abruptly pulling up from a scramble and instead opting to throw a touchdown pass.

‘When you have a little bit of a roll, it’s a little bit sore,’ Mahomes told reporters on Wednesday as preparations began for the Broncos game.

‘But I’m able to move around and look forward to getting out to practice and seeing how I can push it as the week goes on.’

‘You can only do so much,” he said. ‘It’s pretty late [after Monday night’s game], but getting some stuff in the training room after the game, then getting some stuff to take home that you throw on there, stuff you can do overnight that you put on there to kind of reduce swelling and stuff like that.

‘You come in early [Tuesday] and it was a long day yesterday of watching film and getting treatment and doing some rehab type stuff and preparing yourself for a short week and a practice [Wednesday].’

It is understood that practice went well on Wednesday, with the quarterback a full participant in the session.

Elsewhere, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tershawn Wharton both didn’t practice.
