Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, a Houston native and the most decorated gymnast of all time, is expanding her personal brand into the culinary world with the announcement of her first restaurant, Taste of Gold.

Set to open at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in early 2025, the venture marks Biles’ debut in the hospitality industry, partnering with The Playmakers Group to bring her vision to life.

Simone Biles’ taking on the restaurant business

Located near Gate A8 in the airport’s A terminal, Taste of Gold aims to celebrate Biles’ monumental achievements while offering travelers a unique dining experience.

“I am very excited to partner with The Playmakers Group and their dedicated team to help bring a new restaurant to my hometown airport,”Biles said in a press release.

“I am a foodie at heart, and our hope with Taste of Gold is to offer a beautiful dining experience that features award-winning, signature menu items with some of my favorite flavors sprinkled in for our guests.”

Though details on the menu remain scarce, the restaurant is expected to reflect Biles’ signature style, combining global influences with her personal tastes.

The Houston Airports System has indicated that the restaurant will showcase signature dishes created by renowned industry innovator Mark Brezinski, further elevating the airport’s status as a hub for exceptional dining experiences.

Francisco Cuellar, Chief Commercial Development Officer for Houston Airports, spoke about the significance of the partnership: “We join the millions of people around the world who find inspiration in Simone Biles, an athlete who continues to raise the bar while achieving success and defying expectations. Houston Airports is on the same history-making trajectory as we redefine what it means to dine inside an airport.”

With Taste of Gold, Biles continues to build her personal brand beyond the competition floor, following her advocacy for mental health awareness and her work in advancing athlete protection reforms.

Taste of Gold is slated to open in the first quarter of 2025, offering a fresh take on airport dining and further enhancing the reputation of George Bush Intercontinental, which ranked in the top 10 for Best Airport Dining Experiences in the 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards.

For Houston, and for Biles herself, this new venture represents yet another golden milestone in her ever-growing legacy.
