Kimberly Guilfoyle Reveals New Details About Her Former Marriage to Gavin Newsom
Kimberly Guilfoyle, recently appointed as the first female US Ambassador to Greece, offered a candid look into her personal life and diplomatic ambitions during her first interview in her new role this week. Speaking with Greek station ANT1, Guilfoyle touched on her relationships with her ex-husbands—California Governor Gavin Newsom and businessman Eric Villency—emphasizing loyalty, friendship, and her commitment to fostering strong international ties.

Friendly Relations with Exes
When the topic of divorce arose during the interview, Guilfoyle, 56, was quick to dispel the notion that breakups must lead to bitterness. She stressed that former spouses can remain on good terms, citing her ongoing positive relationship with Gavin Newsom, whom she was married to from 2001 to 2005. Newsom, now a prominent Democratic figure and vocal critic of President Trump, remains friendly with Guilfoyle despite their differing political paths.
Guilfoyle also praised her second ex-husband, Eric Villency, with whom she shares a 19-year-old son. She noted that their friendship has endured for two decades, underscoring her belief in maintaining supportive relationships even after marriage ends.
“What people need to understand about me is that I don’t give up,” Guilfoyle said, according to the translated transcript provided by ANT1. “I will stay with you, I will be loyal. I will always be here, you can count on me.”
A New Chapter in Diplomacy
Guilfoyle’s appointment as ambassador marks a historic milestone, making her the first woman to serve in the position. She officially took office earlier this month, pledging to strengthen ties between Greece and the United States. At her welcome reception in Athens, she declared, “I know we will do amazing things for these two exceptional countries. I will not disappoint the United States of America. I shall not disappoint Greece.”

Her diplomatic journey began after years in the public eye, first as a prosecutor and later as a Fox News host. Guilfoyle entered the Trump inner circle when she began dating Donald Trump Jr. in 2018. The couple got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2020, but their split was announced in December 2024. Shortly afterward, President Trump nominated Guilfoyle to the ambassadorship, entrusting her with advancing his foreign policy agenda in Greece.
Commitment to US-Greece Relations
In her interview, Guilfoyle vowed to work on issues central to the president’s agenda and to deepen the partnership between Greece and the United States. She expressed optimism about the future and gratitude for the opportunity to serve, saying, “I will not disappoint the United States of America. I shall not disappoint Greece.”
As she embarks on her new diplomatic role, Guilfoyle’s personal philosophy of loyalty and resilience continues to guide her—both in her relationships and in her commitment to international service.

An email to Governor Newsom’s office seeking comment on Guilfoyle’s remarks was not immediately returned.
