It’s A First For Patrick Mahomes Reveal on Chiefs Injury Report

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has called Patrick Mahomes a coach on the field when analyzing his start to the 2024 season.

The Kansas City Chiefs sit at 7-0 on the season and have once again proven they have a knack for making “the” play when needed.

No one can doubt that the Chiefs just know how to win, but also, through seven games, the offense hasn’t played anywhere near the standard we expect. The defense under Steve Spagnuolo has, but Patrick Mahomes and Co. have a lot of improvement in them.

And that’s scary for an undefeated team.

Head coach Andy Reid naturally praised Mahomes’ start to the season but also admitted what Patrick brings to the team from a coaching perspective on the field.

“He’s been playing great football,” Reid said. “You look back a couple years ago, and teams would show you shell coverage, and he had to kind of get used to that whole deal. Now he just he sees it, handles it, gets it to his guys, gets the ball out of his hands. He’s a great player, and he manages everything there, it’s like having a coach on the field.”

He’s 15th in passing yards per game (235.9), 19th in touchdowns (eight), joint-first in interceptions (nine), eighth in completion percentage (68.4), 16th in passing yards (1,651), has his second-lowest passer rating (84.9) and third-lowest QBR (67.0).

But he’s first in wins with seven, so while the stats don’t favor Mahomes, he’s still in front in the most important stat in football, which tells you all you need to know about the 2024 Chiefs.

There is one more issue at the moment: On Thursday, Mahomes was listed as having an injury issue for the first time all season. He was a full participant at practice despite the ankle injury. … but this is something to watch this week and in the game as well.

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa (97) tackles Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco.

Is Chiefs’ Isiah Pacheco Close to Returning?

They aren’t firing on all cylinders, but with “coach” Mahomes, when things get tight in the fourth quarter this season, he makes “the” play at the right time. Of their seven games, only two have been won by more than one score, so the games are close.
