Ex-WWE star recalls the magnitude of John Cena’s “arena-shaking” return

John Cena made a massive return to WWE RAW two years ago to celebrate his 20th anniversary with the company. Recently, former WWE star Mustafa Ali shared his experience witnessing the legend’s appearance on the red brand.

On the June 27, 2022, edition of the red brand, superstars such as Rey Mysterio, Chad Gable, R-Truth, Shinsuke Nakamura, and many others warmly welcomed The Leader of the Cenation backstage. Later, Vince McMahon introduced the 16-time World Champion to the ring, where Cena delivered an emotional promo.

During a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s INSIGHT podcast, Mustafa Ali recalled being on the entrance ramp with other WWE Superstars to greet The Franchise Player on his 20th anniversary.

“The only time I’ve experienced an arena shaking is when John Cena made his return. I felt the building shake. It was the episode of RAW [June 27, 2022] where he was walking backstage and shaking everyone’s hand, and then he was talking to Stu off camera, and they [WWE] had us all loaded on the entrance way,” he said.

The former TNA X Division Champion described how the entire arena shook during John Cena’s entrance, an experience he had never encountered before. Ali added:

“So if you go back and watch that clip, John comes out, the whole roster is on the entrance ramp; he comes out, and the building is shaking. I’ve never experienced this in my life.” [From 20:48 to 21:20]

Wrestling analyst believes a major WWE star should lose his title to the returning John Cena

The Face That Runs The Place is set to retire from in-ring duties following a 12-month Farewell Tour in 2025. Cena is also expected to appear at the premiere of RAW on Netflix on January 6, 2025.

On his Cheap Heat podcast, Peter Rosenberg advocated for John Cena to defeat Gunther in a match for the World Heavyweight Championship.

“I have him beat Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship,” he said.
