Super Bowl LIX will see the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles. The likes of Patrick Mahomes and his teammates will be looking to script history to become the first team ever to three-peat. However, their run to this seemingly remarkable achievement has been blemished with controversy.
Starting from the first game of this 2024 regular season, fans pointed out that the Chiefs benefitted from favorable NFL officiating. Those accusations grew louder as the season progressed and blew up during the Divisional round game against the Houston Texans.

Texans players along with head coach DeMeco Ryans made their feelings clear when suggesting the referees were helping Mahomes and co. The next AFC Championship game was not devoid of controversy as Josh Allen and his Buffalo Bills were not given the benefit of doubt the Chiefs usually get.
Patrick Mahomes may have suggested that there was nothing wrong with the officiating in games the Kansas City Chiefs played in, but fans and some analysts wouldn’t agree. However, former QB and analyst Robert Griffin III came out to defend NFL’s officiating.
“The NFL is not rigged or scripted. The NFL refs are not cheating to help the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes win football games. So, stop complaining and whining about it. At the end of the day, your favorite team just isn’t good enough.” Robert Griffin III said
Robert Griffin IIIÂ added that teams were a bit too aggressive when playing the Chiefs. Therefore, he believes teams can only blame themselves for those penalties. In addition to that, he slammed Allen and the Bills. Despite having a big mobile QB behind one of the best O-lines, they still could not get a yard.
Fans tear into Robert Griffin III for his take on officiating
Fans listening to this analysis could not understand how a former NFL QB watching everything unfold could not keep his eyes wide open. The officiating errors were clear as night and day and his logic seemed to suggest opposing teams weren’t good enough.

They feel the former Heisman Trophy winner feel has lost the plot even though he is supposed to be knowledgeable. Fans took to his video to reply with comments slamming his take. When commentators were questioning those officiating errors, the former QB is ignoring them. Check out examples of those comments below.
Robert Griffin III is not the only one to call out Josh Allen for some mistakes during the AFC Championship game. However, fans lost their minds after he disregarded the officiating issues. Those issues have been evident all season long and could again surface in Super Bowl LIX.
