Incident at City Park: Intervention by Steven Seagal Prevents Escalation After Cop Grabs Sick Black Girl in Wheelchair
City Park, [State] — What started as a routine afternoon at City Park took a disturbing turn on Monday when a police officer’s aggressive behavior toward a young Black girl in a wheelchair was halted by the unexpected intervention of action star and martial artist Steven Seagal.

Tensions Rise at the Playground
According to eyewitnesses, 13-year-old Aaliyah Johnson, who suffers from a rare autoimmune disorder and uses a wheelchair, was enjoying the fresh air with her mother, Monique Johnson, near the park’s fountain. The peaceful scene shifted abruptly when Officer Bradley Carter approached the family, allegedly responding to a complaint about “loitering.”
Several bystanders reported that Officer Carter, who has previously faced complaints of excessive force, demanded that Aaliyah and her mother leave the area. When Monique attempted to explain her daughter’s medical condition, witnesses say Carter became impatient and physically grabbed Aaliyah’s wheelchair, attempting to push her away from the fountain.
“He didn’t even listen to us,” Monique told reporters. “He just said, ‘You people can’t stay here,’ and started pushing my daughter’s chair. Aaliyah was terrified.”
Steven Seagal Steps In
Unbeknownst to Carter, actor and former law enforcement officer Steven Seagal was in the park filming a segment for a documentary on community policing. Seagal, known for his roles in action films and his real-life law enforcement experience, witnessed the incident and immediately intervened.
Video footage captured by a bystander shows Seagal approaching Carter, calmly but firmly placing a hand on his shoulder. “That’s enough, officer,” Seagal can be heard saying. “You’re crossing the line.”
Seagal then positioned himself between Carter and the Johnson family, urging the officer to de-escalate the situation and listen to the family’s explanation. “This young lady is sick and has every right to be here,” Seagal said. “We’re here to protect and serve, not intimidate.”
Community Response and Aftermath
The confrontation quickly attracted a crowd, many of whom began recording the incident on their phones. Within minutes, a second police unit arrived on the scene. After reviewing the situation, the supervising officer apologized to the Johnson family and escorted Officer Carter away from the area pending an internal investigation.
Aaliyah, though shaken, was unharmed. “I was scared, but I felt safe when Mr. Seagal came,” she said. “He listened to me and made the officer stop.”

Steven Seagal Addresses the Media
Later that day, Seagal addressed reporters, emphasizing the importance of empathy and proper training in law enforcement. “Police officers have a duty to protect the most vulnerable in our communities,” Seagal said. “There’s no place for racism or aggression, especially toward children or those with disabilities.”
Calls for Accountability
Local activists and civil rights organizations have called for a thorough investigation into Officer Carter’s conduct, citing previous complaints against him. “This is not the first time we’ve seen this kind of behavior,” said Rev. Marcus Lee of the City Civil Rights Coalition. “We’re grateful for Mr. Seagal’s intervention, but we need systemic change.”
Moving Forward
The City Police Department has placed Officer Carter on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. City officials have also pledged to review training protocols and improve community relations.
As for Aaliyah and her family, they hope the incident will lead to greater understanding and respect. “We just want to be treated like everyone else,” Monique said. “No one should be afraid to go to the park.”
