Colorado football is making moves to strengthen its roster ahead of the 2025 season, particularly focusing on the offensive line. Head coach Deion Sanders and his staff are gearing up for the loss of key players like quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter, both expected to be top-10 NFL Draft picks in April.
On Tuesday night, Colorado announced the addition of Zarian McGill, a 6-foot-2, 310-pound senior offensive lineman from Louisiana Tech. McGill, who earned Second-Team All-Sun Belt honors in 2023, has been solid in pass protection, giving up just two sacks in 685 pass-blocking snaps last season. He visited Boulder over the weekend before committing to the Buffaloes, adding depth to the offensive line. McGill joins Aki Ogunbiyi and Carter Miller as new additions to the unit.
This move comes as Sanders works to strengthen the trenches and prepare for a more competitive 2025 season. Although Colorado’s quarterback situation remains uncertain, with transfers like Liberty’s Kaidon Salter and the No. 1 overall recruit JuJu Lewis in the mix, the improved offensive line play should help whichever player takes the reins under center.
Colorado finished 9-4 in 2024 after a 4-8 debut season under Sanders. The 2025 season holds promise, and these strategic offseason moves aim to make the Buffaloes more competitive in the coming year.
