Vince McMahon Cited for Reckless Driving After Serious Car Crash — Misdemeanor Issued Following Close-Call Incident

Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was involved in a severe car accident last week in Connecticut, resulting in significant vehicle damage but, fortunately, no reported injuries. The incident occurred just hours before the public learned of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan’s passing.

Details of the Accident

The crash took place around 9:22 AM on Thursday on Route 15 in Westport, Connecticut. According to a crash report obtained by TMZ Sports and POST Wrestling, McMahon was driving a 2024 Bentley Continental GT northbound when his vehicle collided with the rear of a 2023 BMW 430. The impact sent both cars into a median wooden-beam guardrail, causing approximately 30 feet of damage.

Debris from the crash was scattered into the southbound lane, where it was struck by a third vehicle—a 2020 Ford Fusion driven by a 27-year-old man. The force of the collisions was so great that airbags deployed in both the Bentley and the BMW, and all three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Firsthand Accounts

Barbara Dolan, the driver of the BMW, shared her experience in a public Facebook post, describing the event as a “horrific car crash.” Dolan recounted that she was on her way to catch a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard when McMahon’s car, allegedly traveling at 80-90 mph, struck her vehicle. She said she was “catapulted over 100 yards” off the road but managed to keep control of her car.

Dolan also claimed that McMahon had been followed by an unmarked state trooper for speeding and weaving through traffic prior to the crash. Images from the scene show McMahon’s Bentley with its two front wheels sheared off and the airbags deployed. Dolan reported being shaken but otherwise uninjured, though she was scheduled for hospital scans and bloodwork as a precaution.

Official Response and Legal Consequences

Connecticut State Police confirmed that all drivers were wearing seatbelts and that no injuries were evident at the scene. However, due to the nature of the crash, McMahon was cited for violating two Connecticut General Statutes: reckless driving and following too closely resulting in an accident. He was issued a misdemeanor summons and released on a $500 non-surety bond. McMahon is scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on August 26.

The incident adds to the recent controversies surrounding McMahon, who has faced significant public scrutiny since stepping down as WWE Chairman. The crash and subsequent legal proceedings are expected to draw further attention in the coming weeks.

Vince McMahon’s court appearance is set for late August, where he will answer to charges stemming from the crash. Thankfully, despite the severity of the incident, all involved escaped without serious injury.
