Taylor Swift is too poor to be on the Forbes rich list

Taylor Swift slipped off the Forbes list of billionaires in 2024 despite a highly successful year on her Eras Tour as the staggering wealth of the richest people in the world, including Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, is laid bare for all to see.

The Forbes 400 list highlights the top 400 wealthiest people across the United States and to qualify, a person needs to have amassed at least $3.3 billion dollars and net worth which is a number Swift falls drastically shy of.

The 34-year-old pop star has a net worth of around $1.1 billion according to Forbes in April 2024 meaning she has to triple that to qualify whilst she is simply nowhere near the upper end of the list which includes Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk.

Ranked 399th is Frank VanderSloot, who made his fortune through nutrition and wellness products, whilst the first notable name comes in 388th in the form of William Wrigley Jr., grandson of the founding name behind the popular chewing gum brand.

Who is at the top of the list?

The richest man in the world continues to be Musk, who tops the list with a fortune of $244 billion despite losing seven billion in value through his failed management of X.com, previously (and to many people still) called Twitter.

Musk made his money notable through PayPal, which he also used to eventually found Tesla and Space X and later acquired Twitter after being forced to purchase the social media platform through a legally binding contract.

He beats Bezos by almost $50 billion after the Amazon tycoon lost a significant amount of wealth as part of his divorce from his wife.

Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, is third ahead of Larry Ellison (Oracle) and Warren Buffett (Berkshire Hathaway) in the top five.
