One of the most promising players in Major League Soccer appears to be on the verge of joining Barcelona, one of the biggest clubs in European football.
The majority of European leagues are still able to make transfers throughout the summer.
There is still time for some of La Liga’s clubs to make deals before the deadline for Spanish clubs approaches on Friday, September 1.
Barcelona, the five-time champions of the Champions League, appears to be one of them as they apparently want to improve their defensive.
The Camp Nou team appears to be looking to Los Angeles FC for reinforcements.
According to The Athletic, Barcelona and center-back Mamadou Fall are in advanced negotiations.
Although it is stated that no agreement has yet been reached, it has been alleged that Barca is looking into a loan deal with a buyout option.
The article continues by stating that Fall’s acquisition by Barcelona is still far from being finalised.
Villarreal, a competitor in La Liga, is also reported to be interested in signing the 20-year-old defender.
Fall played on loan with the reserve squad of Villarreal, who compete in the second division of Spanish football, for the 2022–23 campaign.
And it appears that the player, who made 25 appearances for Villarreal’s first team and another team, is still of interest to the club.
The center-back is regarded by many as one of MLS’s most promising defensive prospects right now.
Fall joined LAFC in the summer of 2021 after leaving Costa Rican club Monteverde. In 42 appearances, he has scored six goals and provided one assist while playing defender.
The athlete, who has practically his entire career ahead of him, has previously acknowledged who his footballing heroes are.
Additionally, both are recognised as two of the greatest defenders to ever step foot on a football pitch.
Fall cites Paulo Maldini, a former player for AC Milan, as one of his sporting heroes. Fall also named Sergio Ramos, a four-time Champions League champion for Real Madrid.
In March 2022, Fall declared to MLSsoccer.com that Paolo Maldini was his idol. I was unable to watch him perform, but I saw him on YouTube and fell in love.
He wasn’t quick, but he was intelligent. I immediately fell in love with Sergio Ramos’ style of play after that.
On Sunday night in MLS, LAFC will play host to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. By the time kickoff at BMO Stadium arrives, it is unknown if Fall will still be on the roster.
