“She lost a race war” – Jason Whitlock gives damning critique of Dawn Staley’s Caitlin Clark admission
After sharing her thoughts on losing to Caitlin Clark and Iowa in 2023, Dawn Staley was called out by sports columnist Jason Whitlock. The former Fox Sports personality was also critical of CBS Sports hiring the South Carolina coach as a WNBA analyst.

On a recent episode of “Fearless,” Whitlock discussed Staley’s comments on the “Higher Learning” podcast last week. He thought that the three-time NCAA champion coach was being dishonest and explained why by pointing to the belief of losing a race war.

“I think she’s being slightly dishonest here,” Whitlock said. “She can’t be fully dishonest. She saw the original Iowa versus South Carolina game as a race war that she lost to these evil White people that are getting all this hype and all this attention, Caitlin Clark.

“And God’s going to show the world that it’s Black women that dominate college basketball and we deserve all the hype and praise. This I don’t think she can be completely honest here. She lost a race war, and it still bothers her. And she still can’t understand why she lost that race war.”

Jason Whitlock also thought that CBS Sports’ hiring of Dawn Staley was a way to slander Caitlin Clark, who’s out with a quad injury. She’s set to miss her fifth consecutive game but is expected to ramp up her training.
Staley and her Gamecocks did get their revenge at Clark and Iowa last year, when they beat them at the NCAA championship game.
Dawn Staley predicts a bright future for Caitlin Clark
Despite what Jason Whitlock thinks about Dawn Staley, the Hall of Fame player has nothing but praise for Caitlin Clark. Staley gave her thoughts on Clark’s game and the outlook for the Indiana Fever superstar, on Sports Illustrated’s Around the W podcast.

“I would say Caitlin Clark will go down as probably one of the best players to ever grace the league,” Staley said. “And she’s going to probably do it in half of the time that it takes any other great player.”
From 24:00 onward.
Staley raved about Clark’s skillset from her scoring and shooting to her playmaking. She also complimented the Fever for surrounding her with talent, which would make triple-doubles come easier. She still couldn’t believe that Clark is already third in the WNBA’s all-time triple-doubles list.
