Billionaire Mark Cuban, former owner of the Dallas Mavericks, recently gave an interview about one of his favorite players. That is Luka Doncic, who is now playing for the LA Lakers.

Time flies, the shocking transfer deal of the NBA involving Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks has been going on for more than 7 weeks.

Its aftershocks are still being felt, most clearly on the Dallas Mavericks, a team that has been criticized by fans and has been plagued by bad luck with player injuries.

Every day that passes, every time Luka Doncic makes the front page of the newspaper because of his explosive performances for the Los Angeles Lakers, it is another sad and depressing day for Dallas fans.

For fans, it is understandable that they are blindsided by the decision-making process of the club’s leadership. But the story at Dallas Mavericks revolving around Luka Doncic is different, everything is almost kept secret by Mr. Nico Harrison.

Billionaire Mark Cuban, former owner of Dallas and still a minority shareholder of the club after selling his shares to someone else, also did not know anything about the plan to trade Luka Doncic to the Lakers.

In addition to being a small shareholder, Mr. Cuban also holds a seat on the club’s board of directors. He said that if he were still in office, he would certainly never sell Luka Doncic at any price.

“When I sold a large stake in the club to a new group of owners, I knew this was possible. The new owners, Patrick Dumont, decided that he trusted Nico Harrison.

It was a decision that was made and it actually helped Dallas get to the Finals last season, so I can’t argue against Nico. Besides, I’m just a fan now, with no say in the new ownership group.

Just know that if I had influence, which I don’t have now, I definitely wouldn’t have let that trade happen.”

And to prove that billionaire Mark Cuban has no weight with the new owners, he recounted the moment he learned Luka Doncic was traded.

Cuban was in a meeting in Florida when his phone started buzzing with notifications, including one from GM Nico Harrison.

Mark Cuban said he thought it was a text asking for his opinion on trading Luka Doncic. But it was actually a text saying it was done.

“I strongly objected and explained why I shouldn’t do it. But then I realized that I no longer had the right to decide,” Cuban said.

“I was as stunned as everyone else. It was a shock, heartbreaking and disappointing no matter how you looked at it. For me, it felt like you were saying goodbye to a long-time companion, like losing a loved one. It was that bad.”

According to initial information in the sale of shares of Dallas Mavericks, billionaire Mark Cuban will retain a small amount of shares and will have the right to vote in professional-related decisions.

But when the team issued a press release announcing Patrick Dumont as the new ownership group’s representative, there was no mention of Cuban.

And then the Luka Doncic trade happened, a move that showed the harsh truth to billionaire Mark Cuban that he was no longer in the club’s circle of power.

Many fans, both in person and online, turned to Mark Cuban after the trade went off. But like the people asking the questions, Mark Cuban had no answers to give them.

He loves Luka Doncic as much as most Dallas Mavericks fans. He doesn’t understand why the team needed that trade. And he’s just as sad as them to see a star who was willing to be loyal to the club pushed out.

The only difference between Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks fans out there is probably just the bank balance, where the “shark” has somewhere a few billion dollars to ease the pain…
