Upper Darby Township meeting and Jerry Jones (Photos via Twitter and Imagn Images)
A Philadelphia Eagles supporter called out the Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, mayor for being a Dallas Cowboys fan during a down meeting.
Ed Brown has served as the mayor of Upper Darby since January 2024, becoming the first black mayor in the city’s history. Brown, a Democrat, defeated incumbent and Republican Brian Burke.
Upper Darby Township has a population of just over 85,000 and is roughly nine miles east of Philadelphia. Brown may serve a large number of Eagles fans, but he’s actually a supporter of the NFC East rival Cowboys.
During a town meeting, an Eagles fan stepped up to the podium and ripped Brown (and the Cowboys) for being a supporter of America’s Team:
“This is what happens, guys — residents of Upper Darby Township — when you elect a Cowboys fan to your government. Twenty-nine years of losing for this team. What do you expect from the leadership?
“This is a Cowboys fan. This guy follows the Cowboys. We’re talking about the Cowboy…not a championship contender, not a championship contender. We’re talking about the Cowboys.”
Being a mayor and a fan of a sports team are two different things, but we’re sure the ultra-passionate Philadelphia fans who saw this clip will be on the man’s side. And hey, congrats to him on his 15-or-so minutes of fame!
