‘Lazy, Olympic champions’: Simone Biles takes shot at former teammate after gold medal win

Simone Biles claps back at ex-teammate after 'lazy' accusations, gets blocked

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — On Tuesday, Simone Biles found herself in a position she’s been in more than a few times: holding a new Olympic gold medal, a champion once again.

Biles, now the most decorated Olympic gymnast of all time, led Team USA to a dominant win in the women’s gymnastics final. Then she took to social media to share a photo of her teammates while taking a shot at a former one.

“Lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions,” Biles wrote on Instagram, taking obvious shots at Olympic medal-winning gymnast MyKayla Skinner, who drew heavy criticism for comments she made on YouTube.

Skinner, who won silver on vault at the Tokyo Olympics, criticized Team USA, saying the team’s “talent and the depth just isn’t like what it used to be.”

“Just notice like, I mean, obviously a lot of girls don’t work as hard,” Skinner claimed. “The girls just don’t have the work ethic.”

Biles wasn’t the only member of Team USA to chime in following their gold medal performance. Biles’ teammate Sunisa Lee commented on the post, saying, “put a finger down if Simone Biles just ended you.”

On Wednesday, Biles took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, and hinted she was blocked by Skinner following the Instagram post.

“oop I’ve been blocked 👀🫢😂,” Biles wrote on X.

Simone Biles still has four more events, meaning four more chances to pad her already hefty list of accomplishments. She will next compete in the Women’s All-Around final on Thursday.
