Williams, who was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in May 2023, has compared her guardianship situation to a prison. Currently residing in a facility in New York, she is able to call her loved ones, but they cannot call her, and she has no access to the internet or personal devices.

During a recent appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” Williams expressed her emotional turmoil regarding her father’s upcoming 94th birthday, admitting she was uncertain if she would be allowed to fly to Miami to celebrate with him. “It is essential that she is not left to suffer in silence in New York while her family is waiting for her return to the warm embrace of Florida, where she truly belongs,” the statement from her family concluded.

The GoFundMe campaign aims to provide the financial resources necessary for Williams’ family to secure legal representation in their fight against the guardianship. The family emphasized that legal services can be prohibitively expensive, and without support, they may struggle to navigate the complexities of the situation.

In her call to “The Breakfast Club,” Williams insisted that she is not cognitively impaired, stating, “Do I seem that way? God damn it, I have $15.” She also mentioned that her beloved cats are no longer with her, adding to her emotional distress.
