At the recently concluded Paris Olympics, Simone Biles turned heads with her stellar performance, and rightfully so! Making a triumphant return to the world’s biggest stage, the gymnast left the French capital with 4 Olympic medals: 3 golds and 1 silver. After effortlessly dominating the mat, the Olympian spent quality time with her family and friends before she headed back to the States. However, due to an injury during a warm-up session before the qualification round, the 27-year-old was seen sporting a chic walking boot.

Initially deemed a precautionary step, Biles had the boot on for longer than expected. This left many wondering if the injury would keep her out of the gym longer than expected. While the gymnast hadn’t addressed it for a bit, fans can now rest easy. She posted an image of her back at the World Champions Centre (WCC) on her story, captioned “first day back 👀.” However, Cecile Landi won’t be making her way back with her. Earlier today, the gymnastics coach bid adieu to Texas after 17 long years as she made her way to Georgia. But it doesn’t look like the 27-year-old got to give her a final send-off.

The gymnastics coach joined the G.O.A.T in 2017. Since then the two have been through a whirlwind of emotions. After coming off the high of her performance at the 2016 Rio Summer Games. But after the 27-year-old stepped down at the Tokyo Olympics, Landi played a huge part in bringing her back to the peak form we witnessed at the Paris Olympics. But this would be the last time we would witness the dynamic duo together. Biles might not have seen her off physically, but she did share an adorable image of herself with the Landi’s. “End of an era 🥹🤞🏾🤍 it’s not a goodbye, it’s a see you later!” We are not okay.

Cecile Landi will now lead the Bulldogs – who had a predominant presence in the NCAA Championships for 4 years from 2005 to 2009. She will co-head the team with Ryan Roberts, who stepped up for the position as well. But hesitant to step away, it looks like one final push from Simone was all Landi needed. “I can’t think of a more deserving person,” the gymnast stated. The long-time coach went down memory lane by sharing an image of the WCC on her Instagram story on Wednesday. Emotions were running high.

The coach even gave everyone a shoutout with another Instagram story captioned, “Thank you to my WCC family for making these past 7 years incredible! Lots of tears were shed today but I can’t wait to come visit! I’ll miss you all.” After everything the two have been through together, it will be odd to not see Landi by her side. However, with Biles ready to take on the mat again, it might be a while before we see the two reunite again.

Simone Biles and Cecile Landi were like a well-oiled machine

Simone Biles and her long-time coach had formed a healthy balance in their relationship. Despite taking over the role of a tutor, Landi wanted to ensure that her tutees understood that she was willing to back them up. Back in 2023, she also opened up about how her relationship with Simone and Co. relied on communication. The 44-year-old would try to observe the gymnasts’ body language to pick up on any signs of distress or discomfort. Once she’s sure, she would then make it a point to ask.

One of her most poignant times as Biles’ coach was during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 27-year-old was poised as the favorite to claim a few more medals to her name. However, she made the bold decision to step down from the women’s gymnastics team finals to focus on herself and her mental health. Cecile Landi didn’t even question it and backed her decision. “I think we try to listen a little bit more to the athletes because mental health was not real in the nineties for me.” In a full-circle moment, this time around Biles has wholeheartedly supported her coach’s decision. What do you think of this dynamic duo?
