How LeBron James did in NBA.com’s annual survey of general managers

The start of the 2024-25 NBA regular season is just two weeks away, and NBA.com recently held its annual survey of executives across the league. This survey had a number of questions about various teams and players, and although the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t come up a ton in the responses, they were on the radar a bit.

LeBron James is entering his 22nd season in the league, and his days of being even in the conversation of who the best player in the game is are over. But people around the league still think highly of him in a few different categories.

When asked who the league’s best small forward is, executives overwhelmingly said it’s the Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum, who got 47% of the votes. But James was in a three-way tie for second place along with Luka Doncic and Kevin Durant.

Executives also gave James some votes when asked who the league’s best leader is. The 39-year-old got 23% of the votes in that category and was tied for second place along with New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson. James’ good friend Stephen Curry was the winner in that category.

James was voted as the NBA’s best leader just a year ago.

After Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, James was voted the NBA’s most versatile player, taking home 20% of the vote in that area. He also came in second on the question of which player has the best basketball IQ, trailing only Nikola Jokić of the Denver Nuggets.
