LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are set to face the Phoenix Suns in a preseason matchup on Sunday. This will be the Lakers’ second preseason game, following their 124-107 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in their opener on Friday.

Although LeBron sat out the first game, the four-time NBA MVP will play against Kevin Durant and the Suns at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California.

After Saturday’s Lakers practice, LeBron spoke to the media and expressed his intention to play in the highly anticipated game against the star-studded Suns. According to Phoenix Suns reporter Duane Rankin, the Lakers superstar confirmed that he plans to suit up for Sunday’s matchup.

Lakers coach JJ Redick also confirmed that both LeBron James and Anthony Davis will play against the Suns. Speaking to the media, Redick expressed his excitement about seeing the Lakers’ regular starting lineup get valuable playing time ahead of the upcoming season.

“Yeah, it’ll be great for us (to have them both out there),” said Redick. “You know, we’ve mixed some lineups during practices and not just had purple versus Gray, where it’s strictly just the starters.”

“So, you know, we’ve had different groups play, and we’ll do that again tomorrow, but it’ll be good for those five guys to get some run together,” he added.

LeBron James gearing up for his 22nd season

LeBron James exemplifies longevity, and the way the 20-time All-Star has defied “Father Time” is nothing short of remarkable. The Lakers superstar is preparing for his 22nd NBA season, a milestone only previously reached by the legendary Vince Carter.

At 39 years old, LeBron continues to show no signs of slowing down. He ended his 21st season leading Team USA in the Paris Olympics, delivering an exceptional performance and earning the MVP title of the tournament.

Last season with the Lakers, the four-time NBA Finals MVP played 71 games and averaged 25.7 points per game. He shot 54% from the field, including a career-high 41% from the three-point line. The 39-year-old also averaged 7.3 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

LeBron and the Lakers made the playoffs last season but were decisively defeated by the Denver Nuggets in five games in the first round. With the new season approaching, LeBron is once again focused on leading his team, aiming for a deep playoff run and hoping to deliver another championship to the Lakers.
