Akron hometown hero LeBron James on Thursday threw his support to Vice President Kamala Harris in the U.S. presidential race.
The former Cleveland Cavaliers forward now plays for the Los Angeles Lakers and is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
By 6:30 p.m., the post on X, formerly known as Twitter, had received 3 million views.
In the past, LeBron has been active in his support for Democratic presidential candidates.
In 2020, LeBron endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in an Instagram post on the eve of the election.
“One more day. Please!! We need EVERYTHING to change and it all starts tomorrow,” he wrote.
He actively supported Hilary Clinton in 2016, writing an editorial for the New York Times and joining her at a campaign rally in Cleveland.
In an Oct. 3, 2016, editorial published in the Akron Beacon Journal, LeBron explained his support of Clinton.
“Policies and ideas that divide us more are not the solution,” he wrote. “We must all stand together — no matter where we are from or the color of our skin. And Hillary is running on the message of hope and unity that we need.”
