Warriors Injury Report: Steve Kerr’s Worrying Andrew Wiggins Update for Pelicans Clash Spoils Steph Curry Good News

Injuries mount for the Warriors, as they’ve fallen before they could even make a statement! Looking at the preseason run, everyone expected the Bay Area side to dominate the West with their strong roster depth. Unfortunately, three games into the season, they had listed Steph Curry out with an ankle injury, but the latest update promised the superstar’s timely return soon. However, right when the Dub Nation was coming to terms with the equation, Coach Steve Kerr dropped a piece of dismaying news involving Andrew Wiggins.

Speaking to the Bay Area’s leading radio channel, 95.7 The Game, Kerr dropped two updates, good and bad news. Well, technically, the bad news isn’t really too bad, as per Kerr. Anyway, before heading to that, we’ll start on a positive note and it’s about Stephen Curry’s injury. The HC said, “The good news is the MRI was pretty clear. And we don’t expect this to be a long-term thing.”

And Steve Kerr continued with the worrying news, saying, Not only we’re gonna be without Steph, we are gonna be without De’Anthony Melton and Wiggs tomorrow night… Most likely not (Reiterates Wiggs’ absence). Questionable right now, I’d say. There’s a good chance that we keep him out. We’ll leave him as questionable, but I am sort of planning to play without him.”

One may wonder about a blessing in disguise in a frustrating injury update that sidelines two more players. But today there surely is one. It’s something to do with the Warriors‘ deep roster, as Kerr added, So, the chance for that depth to get their opportunity. I’m excited about that.”

Undoubtedly, the Dubs have one of the deepest rosters in the league right now. Every single player has the potential to make it to the starting lineup and score 20+ on his day. Notably, the team’s latest acquisition, Lindy Water III, who dropped a buzzer-beating game-winner in the preseason, has also frequently found a spot in the rotation. So, the Wiggins update is bittersweet, at least for Steve Kerr.

Can the Dubs handle the Pelicans without Steph Curry and Wiggs?

The New Orleans Pelicans have had a shaky start to the season. The community anticipated to witness the Pels’ new trio, Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Dejounte Murray. Unfortunately, Murray suffered a fracture in his left hand during the season opener, leaving him out of the action for at least a month, after surgery. On the other hand, Zion Williamson hasn’t found his groove yet, so far he has been averaging under 15 ppg. Moreover, the team also suffered a blowout loss against the Trail Blazers.

So, as of now, Ingram is the only scoring threat that the Dubs have to worry about. Notably, the Warriors lack 2 anchor scorers, heading into the game. In Steph and Wiggs’ absence, fans can witness a step up from Buddy Hield, Jonathan Kuminga, or maybe even a refreshed Moses Moody.

Nevertheless, it’s also important to address that Andrew Wiggins seemed to have finally found his rhythm back, after putting up a career-low performance in the previous season. In the last game against the LA Clippers, the Dubs’ shooting guard recorded 29 points with 5 three-pointers. Even though the Golden State Warriors will miss him for the next game, the hooper has definitely shown a positive sign for the rest of the season. What do you make of Wiggs’ performance and Steph Curry’s health? Let us know.
