Stepmother reveals the true reason Meghan Markle no longer speaks to her family
Roslyn Markle, the former stepmother of Meghan Markle, has spoken out about the reasons behind Meghan’s estrangement from certain family members, including her father, Thomas Markle. In a candid interview, Roslyn suggested that the primary cause of the distance between Meghan and her family was not due to any significant rift but rather the physical distance that developed as Meghan pursued her career and life outside of her hometown.
The Controversy Over Meghan’s Family
The tensions between Meghan Markle and her family have been a topic of public interest since her relationship with Prince Harry became known. In 2017, Prince Harry sparked controversy when he remarked in a BBC Radio 4 interview that the royal family was “the family she never had.” This comment drew sharp reactions from Meghan’s relatives, including her brother, Thomas Markle Jr., who defended the family, stating that Meghan “had a really good family” and “got everything she ever wanted.”
Roslyn Markle, who was married to Meghan’s father in the 1960s, offered her perspective in an interview with Radar Online, as reported by the Daily Star. She downplayed the idea of a deep family rift, saying, “It’s not tension. It’s distance.” According to Roslyn, Meghan’s physical separation from her family began when she went to Northwestern University in Illinois and then continued as her career took off, including her time in Argentina and later in Hollywood with her role in Suits. “Everyone got busy, and the distance was always a factor,” she explained.
