Football fans are destroying the NFL on social media for heavily featuring Taylor Swift in their official 2024 season hype video.

On Monday, the NFL X/Twitter account shared its hype video for the 2024 season that’s now only two days away. Taylor Swift, who’s in a highly-publicized relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, shows up five times in the 30-second video:

As noted by the ML Football X account, top NFL superstars Joe Burrow, CJ Stroud, Brock Purdy, Matthew Stafford, Jordan Love, Justin Jefferson, Myles Garrett and TJ Watt weren’t featured once in the hype video.

And fans wasted no time teeing off on the league for the frequent appearances of Taylor Swift in the video:

Swift and Kelce have been in a relationship for roughly a year. The legendary singer essentially confirmed their romance when she attended the Chiefs’ Week 3, 2023 home game against the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium.

Taylor Swift attended 13 Chiefs games during the 2023 season, including all four of their playoff games. The day before Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas, she performed a concert in Tokyo and then rushed home to support Kansas City in the big game.

Kansas City defeated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime of Super Bowl 58 to complete the repeat, becoming the first team to achieve that feat since the 2003 and ’04 New England Patriots. The Chiefs will kick off their 2024 season on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium.

NFL Cleverly Continues To Market Taylor Swift

Love or hate the NFL’s marketing of Taylor Swift all you want. The bottom line is that the world-famous singer has brought plenty more attention and following to the NFL since going public with her and Kelce’s relationship.

Chiefs games saw a giant increase in ratings after fans learned of the Swift-Kelce relationship. Ratings and money run everything in the NFL, and Swift has become a significant marketing resource for them.
