As an elite gymnast, having one skill named after yourself is a feat worthy of a standing ovation. But Simone Biles is the GOAT for a reason. With five skills named after the 27-year-old Olympian, Biles’ status in the sport is beyond doubt. When you achieve such a high level, it only gets difficult parting ways with the things that have brought you international acclaim. The fans believe that Biles won’t be so drastic about quitting one of her signature moves so soon, and they have their reason.
When the Houston native held a mock funeral for the Yurchenko Double Pike, also known as the Biles II, on social media last month, fans were amused. But now, as the country’s gymnastics apex body tries to look back at how thrilling watching Simone perform the world’s most difficult vault routine was, it seems like the gymnast is having two thoughts about it, but fans aren’t complaining.
Simone Biles looks unready to say goodbye to the YDP
In her post on X from October 21, the most decorated gymnast of all time issued a warning against taking everything in the cyberworld seriously. “Y’all really need to stop believing everything you read on the internet,” she wrote in her social media update and seemed to have a particular reason to do so. The official USA Gymnastics X account also posted a brief clip of the Biles II just moments ago with a caption that sent an alarm across the community.
Which gymnastics skill is named after Simone Biles and is considered one of the most difficult vault routines?
“The Biles II on Vault gone, but never forgotten,” read the caption of USAG’s post, and fans couldn’t figure out what it exactly meant. However, it looked like Biles wasn’t on board with the USAG trying to assert that the vault routine would become a part of the history books. Instead, she hinted that the future is difficult to predict and that the fans should be ready for anything, especially when it comes to Simone Biles and gymnastics.
However, considering how the fans are currently being enthralled by Biles and her posse at the Gold Over America Tour, it’s only natural that they don’t want her magic to stop anytime soon. However, while her professional career is still to take its next steps forward, it looks like the community members are ready to accept Biles’ words as her subtle message that she’s not done just yet.
The gymnastics community casts doubt on the USAG
At first, the USAG didn’t mention the Biles II in its post, and it looked like they were talking about the 7x Olympic gold medalist. Naturally, the caption freaked out a lot of people. “Y’all scared the life out of me with that first tweet,” wrote one fan after the updated post showed up on X, urging the USAG to be more cautious when posting about the GOAT.
However, considering how the fans were going berserk before the update showed up, Biles’ post might look like a chucklesome suggestion that if anything happened to her, the fans would know for certain and without any confusion about it. Another fan also wrote, “Y’all had me scared for a sec… don’t ever do that again,” noting the hastened heart rate they had to endure.
However, Biles’ post soon caught the attention of many fans, who were previously in a state of sadness after seeing USAG’s claim. And unsurprisingly, they did their best to call out the national gymnastics authorities. “Simone says no. I believe her,” opined Amy, who evidently hasn’t had her fill of watching Simone do the emphatic Biles II. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, the national icon added another vault gold to her cupboard, proving just how incredible she is on the apparatus, and Amy is keen to believe the creator’s word instead of anyone else’s.
Matt also had a gander at Biles’ warning and confronted the USAG about it. “Simone told me not to believe this,” commented the gymnastics loyalist flatly, noting that the gymnast should be taken more seriously when it’s a discussion about her professional future. Shane also believes that Biles won’t give up so soon, despite her social media stunt from last month. “I hold on to hope,” said the fan.
Sheri is convinced that Simone’s retirement will come on home soil, especially with her having the chance to do so four years later. “I predict Biles will be on the 2028 women’s team for the LA Olympics,” this fan claims, and we can’t seem to find many flaws in the logic. What about you? How long do you believe Simone can carry on performing at the highest level and what are her plans for the Biles II? Tell us in the comments.
