The Kansas City Chiefs moved to a perfect 6-0 record this season after a convincing performance, leaving fans excited for what’s to come.
When asked about head coach Andy Reid’s message to the team before the game, Kelce emphasized the importance of constant improvement.
“It’s about us,” Kelce said. “It’s about us getting better throughout the year. How can we keep getting better from our previous game to now? The message was simple—let’s go out there and play together.”
The Chiefs offense has been under scrutiny, with many doubting their ability to remain a dominant force with the current roster. But Kelce was quick to point out that the team showed its potential to silence critics.
“There’s a lot of doubters about what we can do offensively right now with the guys we’ve got. I think we showed everybody that we can put up points today,” Kelce confidently remarked.
Injuries have impacted the team, including wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster going down again, but Kelce praised his teammates for stepping up in the face of adversity. “I love every single guy on this team because that’s the mentality—next guy up. Everybody fills their role and they want that opportunity to show the world that we’ve got everybody we need right here to win a championship,” Kelce added. He also noted that the team’s depth would be critical as roles continue to expand throughout the season.
Looking ahead, Kelce and the Chiefs will face a heated divisional rivalry next week as they take on the Las Vegas Raiders. Kelce acknowledged the challenge that lies ahead, saying, “We found out last year that if we don’t have the right mindset going into this game, this team can beat us. That’s every team in the NFL, but this rivalry for the AFC West always makes it a big game.”
As one of the last undefeated teams in the league, the Chiefs are not looking past any opponent, and Kelce stressed the importance of preparation and focus, especially in divisional matchups. “Sure enough, the Raiders are always a tough opponent,” he said, underscoring the intensity of the AFC West rivalry.
Kelce also touched on his love for baseball after the game. Despite his hometown Cleveland Guardians being knocked out of the MLB playoffs by the New York Yankees, Kelce remains a fan of the sport. “I’m just a baseball fan at this point,” he said. “Cleveland has always been my go-to team, but I just appreciate baseball.” Kelce, a familiar face at past World Series games, isn’t sure if he’ll attend this year, but he still enjoys playoff baseball with his family and friends.
As the Chiefs prepare for their next challenge against the Raiders, Kelce’s leadership and the team’s resilience will continue to be key factors in maintaining their undefeated record and chasing another championship.
