Brooke Hogan, the daughter of late wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, has spoken candidly about the family rift that overshadowed her final years with her father. The WWE Hall of Famer, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, died at age 71 after suffering cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida home. Despite the tragic end, Brooke’s heartfelt statement reveals a complicated but unbreakable bond with her father.
Family Turmoil
Hulk Hogan’s death comes after years of public and private strife within the Hogan family. His ex-wife, Linda Hogan, had previously accused him of tearing the family apart, claiming Brooke had cut off both parents due to Hulk’s actions. In a dramatic video posted in March, Linda labeled her former husband a “complete liar” and “sex addict,” and described the family as being in chaos after Brooke’s decision to distance herself.

We had a connection deeper than words, one that spanned lifetimes. I am so grateful I knew the real version of him. Not just the one the world viewed through a carefully curated lens. We shared a quiet, sacred bond, one that could be seen and felt by anyone who witnessed us together. When he left this earth, it felt like part of my spirit left with him. I felt it before the news even reached us.”
Brooke clarified that the estrangement was not the result of a single fight, but rather a series of difficult private conversations as her father confided in her about personal and business struggles. She noted that after a period of closeness, “something shifted,” and Hulk began to emotionally pull away, shutting her out during times when she wanted to support him most.
“During the last two years, I had to step away to protect my heart,” Brooke wrote, explaining that her husband, former NHL player Steven Oleksy, quietly tried to help repair their relationship. After Hulk’s death, Brooke discovered messages her husband had sent to her father, some answered and some ignored, all of which broke her heart.
Honoring Her Father
Despite their estrangement, Brooke and Steven honored Hulk Hogan in a touching way by naming their daughter Molly Gene Olesky—the middle name “Gene” being a tribute to her father.

“I know in my heart I did everything I could. He knew I would run through a burning building for him. And in many ways, along the path of life, I did. And for a few special years, I had that—with memories that will last a lifetime. My world is forever changed. But I’m deeply blessed with a loving husband and two beautiful children who remind me every day of life’s greatest gifts.”
Family’s Response and Fallout
Steven Oleksy, Brooke’s husband, also asked for privacy as the family grieves, calling out the spread of misinformation and AI-generated videos that do not reflect their feelings or situation.
Hulk Hogan shared Brooke and her brother Nick, 35, with Linda Hogan, whom he was married to from 1983 to 2009. He later married Jennifer McDaniel (2010–2021) and, in 2023, wed Sky Daily, remaining with her until his death.
Brooke and Hulk’s last conversation reportedly took place in September 2023, just before his marriage to Sky Daily. During that call, Brooke expressed concern for her father’s health and urged him to take better care of himself, but her pleas were not heeded.
