Combs was arrested on charges of trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in body work. Prosecutors called him a flight risk and expressed concerns about potential witness tampering, leading to his bail denial twice.

Agnifilo argued that there was only one victim named in the indictment, a woman who had a ten-year romantic relationship with Combs. According to the attorney, she was an adult who lived independently and never lived with Combs. He claimed that the relationship soured due to jealousy over Combs’ other girlfriend and that they broke up when the woman started dating her trainer.

Despite their breakup, Agnifilo said the woman supported Combs at multiple memorial services for the mother of his children. Five years later, the woman allegedly threatened to release a “tell-all” book unless Combs paid her $30 million. Combs’ legal team claimed to have recorded a conversation where the woman’s lawyer made this demand. When Combs refused to pay, the woman filed a civil lawsuit against him, which was eventually settled. Agnifilo stressed that Combs settled to avoid damage to his reputation and business, not because of any wrongdoing.

Combs remains in custody at MDC Brooklyn. The court has yet to make a ruling on the new bond package proposed by his lawyer. Combs continues to maintain his innocence, with Agnifilo asserting that the extortion claims will be key to proving his case in court.
