Alicia Keys throws lavish birthday party for husband Swizz Beatz with guests Jay-Z and Usher… and sᴜrprises him with $150K Aston Martin
Alicia Keys threw a surprise party for her husband Swizz Beatz’s 40th birthday on Friday, which was attended by Jay-Z (no Beyoncé, though) and Usher, and featured a big surprise gift.
TMZ has video of the surprise, with Keys, 37, instructing photographers not to say a word, as she leads a blindfolded Swizz into what he thinks is a dinner at a secret restaurant, but is really the World on Wheels skating rink in L.A.
While Keys and Swizz were inside, her gift was being rolled out, a 2019 Aston Martin Vantage, which starts at $150,000.
Swizz (real name Kasseem Dean) actually celebrated his 40th birthday last month (September 13), and revealed that he actually hurt his arm, which he had tucked into an orange Nike Air hoodie.
“Hurt my arm a bit, but you can whip it with one hand,” Swizz said. (Later the star was seen with a sling on his arm.)
When asked why he thought his wife blindfolded him, Swizz said, “I thought we were going to a secret restaurant, a ninja restaurant. My wife is always up to something.”
When asked how she pulled off the surprise, Keys said she did it with, “A lot of help, a lot of good friends who contributed, who love him, and a few little white lies to throw him off ’cause he’s so nosy!”
The Empire State of Mind singer added that the biggest lie she told him was that the car was already sold, adding, “He was quite upset.”
The video ends with Swizz thanking everyone for coming, but adding, “I gotta go to the hospital, though. I’m hurt, I ain’t gonna lie.”
Usher also shared a number of videos from the event on his Instagram story, showing that the singer, who just celebrated his own 40th birthday on Sunday, had his roller skates on.
He also shared a brief video where Alicia, Jay-Z, and many others sang “Happy Birthday” to Swizz in front of a huge cake.
Swizz also spoke about a future collaboration with Usher, that will, “Put the feeling back in your bones that make you want to move and do different things you’ve never done in your life before.”
