Blockbuster McDavid-to-Lightning trade proposal revealed, analyst highlights $76M centerpiece

An unbelievable trade proposal is being floated by Tampa Bay sports analyst Jay Recher that sees the Tampa Bay Lightning acquire Connor McDavid from the Oilers.

The Edmonton Oilers may as well be holding their collective breath when it comes to the future of Connor McDavid with their club.

McDavid didn’t guarantee that he wanted to spend the rest of his NHL career with the Oilers when speaking with reporters during

Edmonton’s locker room cleanout day.

Given that he’s now lost in the Stanley Cup Final twice in a row to the Florida Panthers, McDavid could even potentially be thinking of splitting when his current contract expires in 2026.

Where exactly could McDavid fit in if he decided that the Oilers weren’t going to be his team anymore?

Local Tampa Bay sports journalist Jay Recher has an idea – come to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

However, he’s floating a trade proposal, and it would center around the Lightning trading Brayden Point back to the Oilers along with prospect Isaac Howard.

What would a trade for Connor McDavid look like? I think when you look at this deal, Brayden Point, he would be the centerpiece of this deal; obviously, you need a big gem going back.

The next piece is Isaac Howard, Hobey-Baker winner, highly touted prospect that is not going to sign with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He’s gonna jump right into that starting lineup for Edmonton.

The third guy would be a guy like Jack Finley. More help up the middle, more size, help your middle-six. And then I think Erik Cernak. Right-handed shot on the blue line, $5.2 million.

Oilers fans and Lightning fans alike – is this a trade that you would even remotely entertain?
