Rescued Eric: A Journey from Storm Drain Despair to Hopeful Healing

Late one night, I came across a sight that will stay with me: a helpless dog lying in a storm drain, fear evident in its eyes and unable to move due to a possible injury. It appeared the dog had been hit by a passing car.

Acting quickly, we rushed the dog to the “In Good Hands” clinic on Novy Cheryomushki Street, where it was welcomed with warmth and care.

Despite its pain, the dog eagerly devoured its food, a clear sign of its hunger and strong will to live.

The diagnosis was heartbreaking: a fracture and severe spondylolisthesis along the spine, which made walking impossible, made worse by the dog’s weight of 50 kg. Beside him was an elderly dog facing kidney failure and tumors in multiple organs, its frail body bearing the marks of prolonged suffering.

Together, we addressed their needs, gently bathing them with awareness of their pain and limitations. The dog, whom we named Eric, found solace in the warmth of his room and enjoyed sunny mornings, reminding him of happier days.

The path to recovery was long and challenging, requiring numerous injections and careful monitoring. Progress was slow but hopeful: Eric’s hind legs began to show signs of improvement, a glimmer of hope in the darkness of his condition.

Though the future remains uncertain, we take comfort in knowing we’ve rescued Eric from despair, giving him a chance at a life free from pain. As we continue to monitor his progress, we hold onto the hope of a brighter tomorrow, filled with healing and renewal
