The Kansas City Chiefs are 6-0 despite plenty of injuries. They could look to make a trade to help fix some of the holes on offense left by injuries.

When listing players the Chiefs could trade for to help achieve their three-peat, FanSided’s Zachary Rotman urged the team to trade for Christian Kirk of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“While the Jaguars do not have to trade Kirk, who is under contract through 2025, they’d benefit from trading him now – while he has that extra year of control – to ensure that they get more back in exchange,” Rotman wrote.

“This team is going nowhere in 2024, and with receivers like Davante Adams and Amari Cooper off the board, the Chiefs don’t have many options. Kirk might be the best one out there, and the Chiefs might be willing to pay up to get him.”

Kirk signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Jaguars in 2022. He put up over 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns in his first year with the team.

“He hasn’t duplicated those numbers since, but Kirk still figures to be a solid low-end WR1 or high-end WR2,” wrote Rotman. “His production this season might not suggest that, but a lot of that certainly has to do with Trevor Lawrence and Co. struggling mightily.”

Perhaps playing with Mahomes and company can get Kirk back on track. Rashee Rice was off to a great start with the Chiefs before suffering a knee injury.

That has left the Chiefs heavily reliant on Travis Kelce and rookie Xavier Worthy. A player like Kirk could take some pressure off of Kelce and improve the struggling offense.

Wide Receivers could include DeAndre Hopkins from the Arizona Cardinals, a veteran with big-play ability. Brandin Cooks of the Houston Texans, known for his speed, could provide a vertical element. JuJu Smith-Schuster from the Pittsburgh Steelers, a reliable target, could add depth to the Chiefs’ receiving corps.

Running Backs like James Conner from the Arizona Cardinals, who can run and catch, could enhance the Chiefs’ ground game. A.J. Dillon from the Green Bay Packers, a powerful runner, could add physicality.

Offensive Linemen could be Orlando Brown Jr. from the Baltimore Ravens, a talented left tackle, or Jonah Williams from the Cincinnati Bengals, who can play tackle or guard.

Key Factors to consider include cost, fit, and contract status. The Chiefs must weigh the cost of acquiring a player against their potential impact, ensure they fit the offensive scheme and team culture, and consider their contract length.

Ultimately, the Chiefs need to make decisions that best position them for a three-peat.
