Andy Reid on what separates Mahomes from others, Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, Chiefs season | THE HERD

Andy Reid: Mahomes is a Cut Above the Rest

Colin Cowherd: Andy, thank you for joining us today. The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off another Super Bowl victory. What separates Patrick Mahomes from the rest of the quarterbacks in the league?

Andy Reid: Well, Colin, it’s a combination of things. First and foremost, Patrick is incredibly intelligent. He processes information at a rapid pace and can make adjustments on the fly. Secondly, his work ethic is second to none. He’s always studying film, practicing, and trying to get better. And finally, he has an uncanny ability to make plays when it matters most. He’s a true game-changer.

Cowherd: And what about Travis Kelce? He’s been a dominant force for several years now. How do you explain his continued success?

Reid: Travis is a special player. He’s incredibly athletic for a tight end, and he has a great football IQ. He’s also tough as nails. He’s a guy who’s going to give you everything he has every single play.

Cowherd: The Chiefs have been a perennial contender in recent years. What’s the secret to your team’s sustained success?

Reid: I think it comes down to a few things. First, we have a great locker room culture. We have a lot of veteran players who set a good example for the younger guys. Second, we’re always looking to improve. We’re never satisfied with where we’re at. And finally, we have a great coaching staff. We have a lot of experienced coaches who know what it takes to win.

Cowherd: How do you keep your players motivated and focused throughout the long NFL season?

Reid: It’s a challenge, but I think it’s important to keep things fresh. We try to do different things in practice and mix things up. We also try to create a fun and competitive environment. And of course, it’s important to have a good coaching staff and a strong support system.
