Michigan Governor Had Blunt Response to Taylor Swift-Brittany Mahomes Controversy

There has been a lot of talk surrounding Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes of late. This is after the partners of Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, respectively, had their dissenting political views revealed publicly.

It was recently reported that Brittany Mahomes was shaken “to the core” after Donald Trump attacked Swift on social media by posting, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” This was after Swift went on Instagram to endorse Trump’s rival, Kamala Harris.

Brittany Mahomes reportedly started “questioning her support” for the Republican candidate after his tirade against Swift, who the former considers a close friend.

In a recent episode of “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen,” Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was asked to chime in on this controversy. During a segment of the show entitled “Should! We! Give a damn!,” the host asked the democratic governor if the people should care about Swift’s friendship with Mahomes, who is a Trump supporter. The Democratic governor kept her response short and sweet.

“We do care about Taylor Swift and so, no, we shouldn’t give a damn,” said the governor.

Whitmer did not expound on her statement in the rapid-fire segment of the show, but it is clear that she believes that Swift’s relationship with Brittany Mahomes is a non-issue.

For what it’s worth, Brittany Mahomes herself previously endorsed a powerful message amid the backlash she got over her support for Trump. On Instagram, she reposted a quote from preacher Shane Pruitt that read: “Contrary to the tone of the world today. … You can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind.”

It’s a strong statement that is applicable to her friendship with Taylor Swift — and beyond.
