Patrick Mahomes' Ex-Teammate Drops 5-Word Response to QB's Royals Taunt During ALDS Game 3 vs. Yankees

Patrick Mahomes received a fiery response from an ex-Chiefs WR after the QB taunted him at the Yankees-Royals ADLS Game 3 in Kansas City.

Patrick Mahomes is used to winning and showing it off. However, things did not go well for the quarterback after taunting his former wide receiver Gehrig Dieter at the ALDS Game 3 in Kansas City.

Both the New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals jockeyed to lead the series in a closely contested affair. However, a momentary lead before the eventual loss by the Royals became costly for Mahomes. The former Kansas City Chiefs WR Dieter made sure to remind him as well.

Patrick Mahomes Taunts His Ex-WR and Pays the Price

At the game, both Mahomes and Dieter proudly displayed their colors while watching it from the box at the Kauffman Stadium. As soon as Michael Massey scored a triple, Mahomes rushed towards Dieter, shouting “What’s up?” continuously at him.

Dieter, who played a bit-part role throughout his five-season NFL career with the Chiefs, hung his head at Mahomes’ infraction. However, towards the end, he tried squaring up with his former QB and referenced it in a clip posted after the Yankees eventually won 3-2.

“Buddy almost got 2 pieced,” tweeted Dieter while tagging Mahomes.

The former WR used the cadence of combat sports popularized by UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal. It signifies hitting the other person with a quick two-punch combination. Dieter highlighted the consequence for Mahomes with a troll tweet after the Yankees win.

Mahomes, apart from supporting his adopted city, has also thrown his financial weight behind it. In 2020, Mahomes became the youngest part-owner in sports history after purchasing a 1% stake in the Royals.

Patrick Mahomes Targets MLB Icon Derek Jeter

Previously Mahomes has highlighted his love for Derek Jeter. However, as Jeter’s Yankees come face-to-face with Mahomes’ Royals, the respect has been shoved aside. Before Game 3, Mahomes issued a message to Jeter through the press. Mahomes responded as reporters asked whether he’d give tickets to Jeter for the game in Kansas City.

“Yeah, man, I’ll let him be there because when we hopefully win, I’ll get to talk trash,” said Mahomes. “I know he’s a big Yankees fan. I think if the Yankees lost this series, he might have to move cities. So, let’s see if we can do that for him.”

Jeter spent his entire 20-season career with the Yankees. However, even he could not guide his team to a championship after 2009. The Yankees are hungry for a championship, while Mahomes promises to extend the drought by eliminating them in the division series itself.
