Patrick Mahomes faces potential tension over Royals game during Brittany’s vacation

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be spending the team’s bye week away from his pregnant wife, Brittany, who is due to give birth to their third child

Patrick Mahomes risked a tiff with his expecting partner, Brittany Mahomes, when he decided to catch the Kansas City Royals’ MLB showdown with the New York Yankees.

The Kansas City Chiefs legend, who has already secured three Super Bowl victories, conceded the baseball match might cause a bit of strife with Brittany, his long-time love and mother-to-be of his second child.

After clinching a win over the Saints, Mahomes disclosed that while he’d be hitting up the baseball during the Chiefs’ bye week, pregnant Brittany would be off on a holiday. “It’s bye week, so Brittany’s vacationing and me getting to the Royals game, we’ll feud for sure,” he shared.

True to his sportsman spirit, the NFL ace honoured another Kansas City big-league squad by attending the Royals’ fixture, with younger sibling Jackson Mahomes in company, both sporting the team’s colours.

Despite a disappointing 3-2 defeat in Game 3 against the Yankees, Mahomes truly enjoyed himself, playfully gearing up for a mock bout with former colleague Gehrig Dieter. His connection to baseball is more than just fandom; his dad carved out an impressive 11-year stint in MLB, featuring for the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, Yokohama BayStars, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

The NFL superstar was even selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft. However, Mahomes’ focus was on football at Texas Tech.

But, had he focused on baseball, he could’ve been a first-rounder like he was in the 2017 NFL Draft for the Chiefs.

Mahomes has had an uncharacteristically slow personal start to the 2024 NFL campaign. He has thrown as many interceptions as he has touchdown passes, with six each. And he only has 1,235 passing yards.

Nonetheless, the three-peat-chasing Chiefs have a 5-0 perfect record this season despite widespread injuries on offense to key players such as Hollywood Brown, and running back Isiah Pacheco.
