Patrick Mahomes Let Everyone Know Where He Stands Politically
The 2024 presidential election is about a month away and Patrick Mahomes has let everyone know where he stands politically.
The Chiefs are 4-0 on the season, having taken down the Ravens, Bengals, Falcons and Chargers to open up the year. Despite injuries to multiple wide receivers, Mahomes and Co. have kept on rolling following a win over the 49ers in Super Bowl 58. Things could get tougher moving forward, as Rashee Rice has gone down with a knee injury, but few in the NFL, if any, are going to doubt Mahomes’ ability to carry a team. He’s the best player in the league, after all.
But while Mahomes has shined on the football field, he hasn’t spoken out much off of it. That’s a calculated decision, though.
Mahomes, who has won three Super Bowls, has made it clear where he stands politically heading into the 2024 presidential election. Mahomes is choosing to not speak out.
“I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president,” Mahomes said, per Time magazine.
“I want people to use their voice, whoever they believe in. I want them to do the research.”
That’s a noble response from a person in such a public spotlight. It’s OK for anyone to speak out politically, of course, but if Mahomes wants to keep his opinions to himself, that’s fine, too. There are probably too many celebrities these days who feel the need to let everyone know about where they stand and who they think you should vote for. It’s honorable for someone in Mahomes’ position to choose to keep his opinions to himself on this matter.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, are set to take on the Saints on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” in Week 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. E.T. on Monday night.
