Shocking stat signals worrying decline in Travis Kelce’s Chiefs form amid his latest retirement hint

Travis Kelce‘s gridiron production this season has not lived up to the lofty standards the future Hall of Fame tight end has created for himself, with a shocking decline in one statistic telling his current story.

Kelce is the only player in the NFL with 75 receptions or more to be averaging less than 10 yards per catch.

The 35-year-old Kansas City Chief is not even close to that threshold either, at 8.4 yards per catch.

It is the first season where Kelce has been the Chiefs starting tight end where he has not hit that mark, with Taylor Swift‘s boyfriend usually averaging between 12 and 13 yards per catch.

Kelce’s drop-off was not a one season plummet, with last year’s yards-per-catch total falling at 10.6.

His yards-per-catch total is not the only blatant decline for Kelce this season with only two touchdown receptions this season, a startling number for a man whose career high in a season is 12, achieved in 2022.

Travis Kelce reflects on ‘last’ game in Cleveland against Browns

Kelce has recently hinted at retirement on more than one occasion recently, with his celebrity profile reaching an all-time high.

Foremost with Swift, he was traveling the world for her ‘Eras Tour’, attending shows in Singapore, Amsterdam, Argentina, and more. Kelce even appeared on stage with Swift during a London show.

Kelce’s podcast, ‘New Heights’, which he hosts with older brother Jason Kelce, who retired from the NFL himself in March, reportedly signed a $100million deal with Amazon’s Wondery.

Kelce was also the host of Prime Video game show, ‘Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?’ where he rubbed elbows with other stars like Nikki Glaser and Sophia Stallone.

The three-time Super Bowl champion still has a trio of regular-season games to turn things around.

Kelce has also become known for being at his best during the playoffs, which did not plummet last year despite a less-than-stellar regular season.

Despite any drop on the stat sheet for Kelce personally, the Chiefs are still 13-1 and only lost on the road to the Bills, who have won 11 games themselves this season. Kelce likely would trade every personal gain for a fourth championship.
