Taylor Swift Fans Blamed After NFL’s Travis Kelce Announcement
On Sunday morning the NFL announced an update to the Walter Payton Man of the Year fan voting.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce sits atop the leaderboard with Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans, Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins, Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Brandon Graham and Washington Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner rounding out the top five.
Kelce, who is having a solid season, but by no means spectacular by his standards, was the No. 1 vote getter in the Pro Bowl vote announced just last week. Some fans believe it’s due to his relationship with Taylor Swift and her rabid fan base.
Well, that’s the case once again on Sunday morning following an update on the Walter Payton Man of the Year vote. Fans are once again pointing to the Swifties as the reason Kelce sits atop the leaderboard in a fan vote.
“Mike evans deserve this not that Swiftie dude who been MIA all year,” one fan said.
“Realistically, does anyone stand a chance against the Swifties?” asked another.
“Why they let Swifters vote? Its not ‘Era’s tour man of the Year’ or ‘Taylor Swift Man of the Year'” suggested another.
“There’s literally no point to vote for anything if Travis Kelce is involved. The swifties will out vote everyone to make sure he wins,” added another.
The NFL shared details of his 87 & Running campaign:
The seeds of Kelce’s community impact were planted four years ago when he purchased a vacant muffler shop. His vision was to transform it into a unique incubator for inner-city students, providing them with real-world career experience and life skills. Today, the inaugural class of the “Ignition Lab” at Operation Breakthrough is set to graduate high school, armed with work experience, internships, improved grades, industry skills, credentials, and newfound hope.
Kelce and 87 & Running recognized that lasting impact requires continuous investment. Through his dedication of time, money, and resources, along with the efforts of staff and volunteers, the Lab has thrived from its inaugural class and beyond. The number of students served by the Ignition Lab has grown 350% since its inception and now includes students from seven urban-area high schools.
Kelce would be an extremely deserving winner thanks to his work in the community, but it certainly helps to have a massive fan base behind him.
The Walter Payton Man of the Year award recognizes players who star on the field and make a significant impact in their communities. The winner will be announced at the NFL Honors show on Thursday, Feb. 6.
