Most points by a rookie in WNBA
Clark added another piece of WNBA history to her collection Sunday, this time setting the league’s rookie record for most points in a single season.
With 761 points (and counting), Clark stands alone in WNBA history. She surpassed Seimone Augustus’ previous record of 744, set in the 2006 season. It’s worth noting that Augustus only played in 34 games that year, while Clark just completed her 39th of the year. Augustus, a Basketball Hall of Famer, averaged nearly three more points than the Fever phenom in her rookie campaign. She also did so while sinking 45.6 percent of her field goal attempts and 35.3 percent of her triples. Clark’s true shooting percentage — a measure of shooting efficiency that takes into account 2-point field goals, 3-point field goals, and free throws — is more than four percentage points better than that of Augustus’, for what it’s worth.
Here’s a look at the 15 most prolific rookie campaigns in WNBA history, spearheaded by Clark and Augustus/
