The girl told the police she had seen a man in a mask under her bed — no one believed her until they checked the CCTV footage 😱😱

It was an ordinary evening. The streets of the city were filled with the soft glow of streetlights, and people were going about their business: some walking their dogs, some coming home from work, some chatting outside a shop. A police patrol — a grey SUV with the characteristic stripe — was slowly driving along the pavement. Inside sat two officers, Kovalyov and Melnikova.

“Quiet tonight,” Kovalyov yawned, looking out the window.

“If only it were always like this,” Melnikova smirked. “Usually it’s just the calm before the storm.”

The girl told the police she had seen a man in a mask under her bed — no one believed her until they checked the CCTV footage.

Before she could finish speaking, a small girl — no more than five — ran out of the entrance of a nearby building. Blonde hair, bunny-print pajamas, barefoot. Panic written all over her face.

She ran straight toward the patrol car. Kovalyov instantly hit the brakes, and the officers jumped out.

“Hey, are you okay?” Melnikova crouched down in front of the girl.

“You… you’re police, right?” the girl panted, struggling for breath.

“Yes, sweetie. What happened?”

“Under my bed… there’s a man. He’s wearing a mask. I saw him.”

“Where are your parents?” Kovalyov frowned.

“Mom’s in the bathroom. I shouted to her, but she told me not to scare her like that.”

The girl told the police she had seen a man in a mask under her bed — no one believed her until they checked the CCTV footage.

The officers exchanged glances. It sounded like a child’s fantasy, but the girl’s eyes were trembling with real fear.

“What did he look like?” Melnikova asked gently.

“All in black. A mask like a ninja’s. I woke up and saw him crawling under my bed. He thought I was asleep…”

“And you ran away?” Kovalyov clarified.

“Yes. Right away. I hid in the closet, but then I saw your car from the window…”

“All right,” Melnikova nodded. “Let’s go check. Better to be sure.”

The apartment was on the third floor. The girl’s mother — a frightened, embarrassed woman in a robe — assured them she hadn’t heard anything and thought her daughter was just afraid of the dark.

“She’s been saying lately that something’s hiding in the corner,” the woman apologized. “She has a vivid imagination.”

The officers checked the room with flashlights. Under the bed — nothing.

“Maybe he ran away…” the girl whispered from the doorway. “But I really saw him. I promise!”

Kovalyov was about to make a joke, but Melnikova stopped him with a gesture.

“Wait. Let’s check the cameras. The girl’s too certain. You don’t just make that up.”

What they saw on the footage shocked everyone 😱😱

The girl told the police she had seen a man in a mask under her bed — no one believed her until they checked the CCTV footage.

Reviewing the street camera footage turned the whole thing into a real thriller. About fifteen minutes before the girl appeared on the street, there had been a recorded robbery in a nearby building. Two criminals dressed in black had run out of the entrance carrying bags.

On the next camera, during the chase, one of them spotted the patrol car, sharply turned the corner, then… climbed up a drainpipe and slipped through an open third-floor window — directly into the girl’s apartment.

“There he is…” Melnikova exhaled. “And that was literally a minute before she ran out to us.”

The next clip showed the man jumping out of a window on the other side of the building and disappearing into the yard.

The criminal was caught the very next day — his partner was arrested that night, and he gave him up in exchange for a lighter sentence.
