Mark stood up, rubbing the back of his neck. He didn’t look like a man trying to start a war; he looked like a man trying to end one.

She then looked at Mrs. Gable, whose grievance was rooted in the belief that her ten years of residency gave her a permanent claim to the air and light over someone else’s soil.
