Angel Reese Launches Podcast ‘Unapologetically Angel’ and Fans Boo, Curse

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese stunned fans by announcing the launch of her new weekly podcast – “Unapologetically Angel”.

Reese has enjoyed a tremendous season with the Sky, helping the franchise stay in the playoff race while she has effectively transitioned to the league from college basketball. Reese is averaging a double-double, putting up 13.5 points and 12.9 rebounds per game this season.

With only a few weeks before the playoffs begin, Reese and the Sky are looking to hold off the likes of the Atlanta Dream from leapfrogging them. However, the rookie has decided to enter the podcasting world.

 

“It’s another way for me to connect with my fans and reach new audiences I wouldn’t necessarily have before,” Reese told Complex. “I can’t wait to share a different side with listeners and have them come on this ride with me.”

Reese’s show is set to appear on NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal’s “The Big Podcast Network”, which is a part of Playmaker HQ. She is the latest high-profile name to join O’Neal’s network in addition to the likes of Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart’s “The Roommates Show” as well as “The OGs” with Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller.

The 22-year-old added: “I mainly want this podcast to be a place for authentic and unfiltered conversations. Whether I’m sharing insights on basketball, the current trends in fashion, or the latest news in entertainment.”

Reese will be joined by her co-host, Maya Reese of no relation. The WNBA rebounds leader is aiming sky-high when it comes to potential guests set to appear on the show.

“I really want to have guests across all different industries on the show – sports, music, entertainment, business, creators, and more,” the rookie said. “But you know I’m definitely going to have to get my girls Meg (thee Stallion), Latto, and Cardi B on here.”

Reese recently became the first player in WNBA history to grab 20 rebounds in three successive games, and she finds herself in the mix with Caitlin Clark to claim Rookie of the Year honors. With 11 games remaining, the Sky sit 8th in the standings – which is good enough for the final playoff spot.

While her podcast is an exciting announcement set to air over the final stages of the season, Reese remains focused as her career unfolds on and off the court. She said: “I like to look at the big picture and think long-term about my business.

“My main focus right now is my team and doing everything I can to help us win on the court. Off the court, I have a lot of long-term career aspirations, and one of them includes broadcasting! So I like to think of ‘Unapologetically Angel’ as the perfect platform where I can share my thoughts, have fun with my guests, and start to hone my craft with interviewing too.”

Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel” officially launches on Thursday, September 5. The show will be available on YouTube and podcast platforms everywhere.
