Chiefs’ Travis Kelce Retirement Update Draws Unusual Andy Reid Reaction

The Kansas City Chiefs have been waiting to see if tight end Travis Kelce will go around again in 2025, and while we haven’t heard much about it after the Super Bowl, now we have some intel.
Speaking at the scouting combine in Indianapolis, general manager Brett Veach told the media via ESPN: “I think we left it as he’d be back, and we’re excited to get him back and get him going.”
So that means No. 87 is coming back, right?
Well, head coach Andy Reid wasn’t as forthright in his response as Veach was. Instead choosing to play a straight bat.
“That’s up to Travis,” Reid said via ESPN. “At this point just get out of town and relax. You know, that’s kind of my motto for these guys. They’ve played a lot of games for a consistent amount of seasons here and so you get to the end of the thing and you’ve exhausted yourself mentally and physically. Step back and take care of that and then we’ll talk. For right now I think that’s what he’s doing.”
With all the franchise’s focus now on the combine and the draft, we imagine that the Chiefs and Kelce will get together over the next couple of weeks to make it official.
But for Chiefs Kingdom, it does sound promising that Kelce will be around again in 2025 as they try to put last season’s disappointment behind them.
No doubt that would have played a role in Kelce coming back as he likely wouldn’t have wanted that to be the way he goes out.
And it looks like it won’t be.
