Jason Kelce implies that Travis Kelce has made up his mind regarding retirement, but won’t spill the beans on the answer

Will Travis Kelce return to the Kansas City Chiefs next season or will he decide to hang up his cleats?

That’s the decision he’s currently pondering. And his brother, Jason Kelce, just implied that it seems Travis already has the answer.

But, don’t expect the older Kelce brother to give anything away.

“I think Travis — I think he probably, in his heart, already knows what he wants to do,” Kelce said on The Steam Room podcast. “We’re very similar people, but we also have different ways of thinking about things. Sometimes I can overanalyze situations, and any big decision I’m having in my life I’ll think about the negatives and what about this or that.
“My brother has this way of being like, ‘Hey man, you want to play or you don’t want to play.’”

Travis hasn’t said anything since he spoke at length about his mindset going into the offseason during the New Heights podcast episode that came directly after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss.

“That process can be grueling and it can weigh on you, it can make you better and it can drive you crazy at the same time,” Kelce explained in last week’s episode. “And right now, it’s one of those things where it was kind of driving me crazy this year. And I think it kind of happens as you tail off towards the back nine of your career as SVP would say.

“As you see yourself or not feel yourself have the success that you once used to have, it’s a tough pill to swallow. And then on top of that, to not be there in the biggest moments, knowing your team’s counting on you. Those are all extremely hard things to, it’s just a hard reality.”

As of when the episode premiered, he hadn’t made any final decisions about what’s next.

“I’m gonna take some time to figure it out. And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it’s gonna be a wholehearted decision and I’m not half assing it, and I’m fully here for them,” Kelce said. “I think I can play, it’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person, to take on all that responsibility.”

He has until March 14 to make his retirement decision. Kelce is due a $11.5 million roster bonus on March 15, per Over The Cap. And with that, the NFL’s free agency period begins March 10
