MyKayla Skinner’s husband had something to say amid her social media drama with Simone Biles.

Jonas Harmer publicly praised his wife in her latest social media post, just weeks after the former Olympic gymnast received tremendous backlash for criticizing the athletes chosen to compete on Team USA in women’s gymnastics.

Underneath Skinner’s nearly four-minute Instagram video she shared on Tuesday, August 7 — Skinner asked Biles to help bring an end to the “cyberbullying” — Harmer, 24, wrote his wife the following: “Proud of you for apologizing when you did, staying quiet when you did, and now standing up for yourself. You’re the strongest person I know!”

In the video, Skinner claimed the “cyberbullying” she received after her initial comments has had a dangerous impact on both her mental health and her family.

“I sincerely hoped that this topic wouldn’t need to be revisited, but unfortunately, things have really gotten out of hand lately,”she said. “And it’s one thing to disagree with me regarding something I have said or a point I was trying to make, but it’s something else entirely when that turns into cyberbullying or even worse. Watching people cheer on the bullying — which has led to threats of physical harm to me, my husband, and our daughter — is disgusting.”

Skinner seemed to be referring to Biles’ Instagram caption after she and the rest of her Olympic teammates won the team all-around gold in Paris on July 30.

“Lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions”, Biles, 27, wrote alongside several photos of herself and her teammates Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera celebrating their gold medal performance.

The caption — which appeared to be a direct commentary on Skinner’s initial comments about the athletes’ poor ‘work ethic’ — echoed throughout social media, receiving over 4 million likes and 50 thousand fan, follower, and celebrity comments.

Skinner and Biles began their viral discourse in June when Skinner criticized the Team USA women’s gymnastics team in a recently-deleted YouTube video.

“Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t like what it used to be” and “the girls just don’t have the work ethic.” Skinner, who competed alongside Biles, Chiles, Lee, and Carey in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics said in the video, per Page Six.
