Megan Thee Stallion Granted 5-Year Restraining Order Against Tory Lanez

A judge sided with Megan Thee Stallion and granted her restraining order against Tory Lanez.

The Grammy award-winning rapper virtually appeared at a hearing in Los Angeles on Thursday, January 9, and delivered an emotional testimony about Lanez’s alleged harassment campaign. According to Rolling Stone, Meg told Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Richard Bloom she’s still traumatized after the “Say It” singer shot her in the feet in 2020.

“I haven’t been at peace since I been shot, and I’m just trying to be un-harassed, not only by the person who shot me, but by the people he’s been paying to continue to harass me,” Megan testified.

“I probably won’t ever have my own peace about the situation, but I just really want the harassment from the person who shot me to stop,” she continued. The artist began to sob as she revealed her fears about what could happen once Lanez is released from prison.

“I’m scared that even when he gets out of jail, he’s going to still be upset with me, and I don’t know if he’s going to continue being violent toward me,” she said. “Because even from behind bars, he keeps showing me that he can get to me. Like, he won’t give me a day of peace. I feel like when he gets out of jail, it’s going to be worse. … I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time, I won’t make it.”

Megan first filed a petition for a restraining order against Lanez last month. She asked the court to intervene after she sued a blogger for allegedly coordinating with Lanez to create a false narrative about her and the shooting. During her testimony, Meg accused Lanez of “orchestrating” the viral attacks against her from trolls online and at her shows.

“The problem I have is that the man who shot me is orchestrating other people and paying people and him and his family are helping people put out lies and slander and smear campaigns against me,” she told Judge Bloom. “I’m scared to do anything because he has orchestrated people to attack me, whether online or it could possibly even be in person.”

His attorney Michael Hayden argued the restraining order would hinder Lanez’s free speech, but clearly the judge disagreed. Judge Bloom granted her request and issued a restraining order against Lanez. The Canadian artist is barred from harassing, intimidating or threatening Meg. He must also remain 100 yards away from Meg’s home, her car, and any location where she works until January 9, 2030. The order shouldn’t be hard for Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, since he’s currently serving his 10-year prison sentence at North Kern State Prison in Delano, Calif.
