“So the only thing for kids like that is they have a lot of pressure because they have the last name. They don’t even really get the opportunity to do what they want, they’re always gonna be compared to us.” Once, Shaquille O’Neal candidly spoke about second-generation kids’ issues during their journey. After all, the subject matter is close to his heart, as three of his kids are pursuing a dream to play professional basketball. Two of those–Shaqir and Me’Arah chose their next path of collegiate career.

The video started with the words, “I’m back“. Then next it featured a meme trend from Kodak Black and Kai Cenat, ” I Dont Go Anywhere“. It featured the 18-year-old’s game day fits, her interacting with young fans post-game, and some moments with her teammates. Plus, it also had the Freshman take some tough shots, drill 3s, and crucial blocks for the Florida Gators. So, what’s the update? Her caption made it clear.

“runnin it back the gatorwayyy🐊🎱.” Yes, the youngest kid of the Shaquille O’Neal family is staying another year in Gainesville. Even elder sister, Amirah O’Neal, dropped the Gator mascot GIF to support this decision. Me’Arah’s first season had expectations as any of Shaq’s children would have. But also because of the Lakers legend’s previous statement, it added more pressure.

“She works out with my sons and I think it’s fair to say, once day, if she continues, Me’Arah will be the best women’s basketball player ever.” In the first season, Meezy could only score 4.8 points per game and manage 8 starts from 35 games with an average of 13.6 minutes per game. That’s why she chose to stay with the team once again, marking an approach completely different from her elder brother.

Shaqir O’Neal was also playing in Florida, but for Florida A&M. It was also his first season with the team, but he chose to enter the transfer portal. And now, the 21-year-old has found a new home with a link to his father.

Shaquille O’Neal’s previous adversary will mold his son’s future

The junior forward will play for the third team in his collegiate career. For the first two years, he was part of Texas Southern, but could only manage to get 1 start each in those two seasons. That’s why he left the Tigers and joined Florida A&M last season. The decision proved to be the right one as he started 17 games, went on to play 17.1 minutes, and averaged 6.7 points per game. However, the stay with the Rattlers ends, and up next is Sacramento State.

So, what’s the connection with Shaquille O’Neal? The coach of the Hornets is none other than former NBA star Mike Bibby. The former Kings player had his fair share of battles with the Lakers legend. Shaq once questioned Bibby’s legitimacy as a top player. That competitive rivalry is in the past, as Shaqir has decided to play for Sacramento State. Plus, his reason for joining the team was very clear.

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to Sacramento State University,” he said. “I am incredibly grateful to Coach Bibby and the entire coaching staff for believing in me.” So, Shaqir chose to cash in on his improved stats with Florida A&M and will fine-tune it with the new Hornets team. Meanwhile, Me’Arah has chosen to stay another season with the Gators to showcase her skills.
