M.I.A. Says JAY-Z ‘Told Me’ To Get Plastic Surgery When She Signed To Roc Nation

M.I.A. has claimed that JAY-Z made a big demand when she signed to his Roc Nation management company over a decade ago: that she get plastic surgery.

The “Paper Planes” artist went live recently with a long monologue that covered a lot of ground, including sending shots at Azealia Banks and explaining why Adele should thank her instead of Beyoncé for the pop megastar’s success. But the most surprising part of all had to do with Hov.

M.I.A. signed to Roc Nation in May, 2012 and left at the very top of 2014. During her period with the company, she says, JAY gave her some advice.

“When I met JAY-Z and I signed to Roc Nation, the first thing he told me to do is to get plastic surgery,” she claimed.

This is not M.I.A.’s first rant directed at JAY-Z and Roc Nation. Back in February she called them out when talking about why she says she is not allowed to see her child.

The British rapper went on a lengthy social media tirade at the time, making reference to Joe Biden, Julian Assange and the war in Palestine.

She initially wrote: “BIDEN WON’T LET ME SEE MY CHILD. THE LONGEST PROCESSING IS MENT TO BE 2 MONTHS AND IT’S ALREADY BEEN THAT,” and shared a screenshot of what appeared to be an email claiming she is ineligible for a U.S. visa.

She added: “They basically saying I have to wait for a Republican to come to office because 9 months from now is the election.”

M.I.A. then claimed that her then-14-year-old son, Ikhyd, was staying with people convicted of sex trafficking: “I’M NOT ALLOWED TO SEE MY CHILD FOR STEALING FOOD AT 18, WHEN I WAS POOR,YET UR GOVERMMET IS OK WITH MY CHILD BEING WITH FAMILY CONVICTED FOR CHILD TRAFFICKING AND SEX CULTS OK.

“THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ME AND MIGRANTS COMING IN, IS THAT I CAN’T VOTE. I M PAYING U.S TAXES TOO.SICK.”

She alleged that she was denied a visa due to her support of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and her calls for a ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

“I HAVE SHOWN SUPPORT FOR JULIEN [sic] FOR 14 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN TO THE USA MANY TIMES.THE ONLY THING DIFFERENT THIS TIME IS, I CALLED FOR A CEASE FIRE AND SPOKE OUT AGAINST GENOCIDE AND ETHNIC CLEANSING,” she wrote. “NOW I AM FORCED TO PICK BETWEEN MY CHILD AND SPEAKING UP FOR WHATS RIGHT BY GOD.”
